I would like to introduce my favorite Hong Kong local noodles which is called 'Yoo dan-ho'.

'Yoo dan-ho' is a thick rice noodle with fish balls. The best ‘Yoo dan-ho’ I’ve tasted was in Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong Island but you don’t have to go there only to taste it as most local restaurant sell 'Yoo dan-ho'.

Famous shops-often busy- mostly make fish balls by themselves with fresh fishes. Not like the factory made fish balls, the fish balls are daily made fresh and when you chew it, it’s and soft, juicy and have rich flavor.

Yoo dan-ho

If you think this Hong Kong local noodle look yummy, enter any Hong Kong local restaurant and say, “Yoo dan-ho, moon ko ee! (please)”.

Of course, not all restaurant sell this noodles but no worries, you can ask if they have before you order, “You dan-ho, yau mou ar(have it or not)?”

If the waiter/waitress answer you “mou la (no)” then assume they don’t have.
If they say, “Yau(yes, we do have)” then you can order it.

If you think you might need some vegetables, you can have slightly boiled lettuce which is called “San Choi” or also slightly boiled fresh dropwort which is called “Tong Choi” at your preference.

Lucky you have experienced such local foods! Some tourists may not have a chance to try the local food in Hong Kong as they are led by guides who prefer 'easy' and famous place :)
