Daily Hong Kong

I had briefly talked about the Hong Kong subway system before, mentioning there are no restrooms in the station.

Inspired from that post which I wrote before, I would like to tell the difference of subway system between Korea and Hong Kong in this post.

Things are not in Hong Kong subway station.

-Mirrors

This might be very useful if Hong Kong government install in their stations as lot would need it to check up and tidy up them before meeting their girl friend either boy friend who might be waiting just outside of the MTR entrance. (In Korea, a few mirrors are installed all around the station)

-Seats in the platform

This may not be useful in Hong Kong as the train’s arrival is frequent.

-Restrooms

Maybe the Hong Kong government was scared of criminals who might abuse the space and save the budget for extra manning to patrol?

-Rack(shelf) inside the train

Maybe the Hong Kong government was scared of people who might use it like this?

ABUSER!!!

Things which I think great in Hong Kong subway system

-The passenger carriages are not separated

In Korea is all separated and isolated which may be risky and might cause another disaster which had happened in Daegu, Korea on 2003. (Positive news is that Korean government had announced today that they will start replacing the old ones to newer ones which cabinets are not separated from 2011) Not only this, but also Hong Kong subway train can hold more passengers comparing to Korea due to this reason.

-All seats are nonflammable

Seats in Korea subway

The first moment when I had a chance to have a seat in this crowded train, I felt a bit uncomfortable (maybe I didn’t have enough fats in my bottom) as it was not soft like Korea. However, now I do feel comfortable and I don’t think soft seats with cushion won’t be good in such a hot and humid weather in Hong Kong.

Funny things

-People are not sharing their daily newspaper

Most likely, in Korea, once if a person leaves the newspaper which he bought, someone will take it and read it. After he read it, he will put on the shelf for someone who might read it later. The shelf in Korea subway is not only for putting your luggage but a place which you can find anything you can read.

  1. My blog is updated! Happy viewing of Hong Kong and Macau =)Gimme comments too.. Xie Xie! Cya..

  2. It is nice that Hong Kong's train compartments aren't separated. What would be nicer is if passengers would actually use that space instead of packing like sardines right by the door!

  3. i want a TV! continuously playing reruns of stephen chow's flicks LOL
